Catalog description

Prerequisite: High school Biology.Initially the course will present an overview of how cells function and how they combine to form tissues and organs. The concept of homeostasis and its role in maintaining cell integrity (and thus health) will be stressed throughout the semester. Following these fundamental topics each body system will be explored, focusing on normal functions, the effects of aging and common geriatric diseases. The entire course will try to stress how the subject matter can be integrated into our personal and professional lives. Faculty: R. WERNER
