Catalog description

This class is the study of igneous and metamorphic rocks. Class covers rock-forming processes, petrogenetic interpretation, and integrates the mineralogy and geochemistry of rocks with the petrogenesis and tectonic setting. Lab emphasizes careful observation, description, and classification of rocks in hand specimen and under the petrographic microscope. Requires field trips and lab. Offered in even-numbered Springs.
