MARINE GEOLOGY II

Catalog description

This course will provide an introduction to marine/biogeochemical processes and their applications. Students in chemical and non-chemical marine disciplines will gain an understanding of how marine geochemistry can be used as a tool in marine studies and the chemical interaction between biological, physical and geological processes. Special emphasis will be on particular rock/water/biota interaction such as the seafloor hydrothermal systems and carbonate reef system. Laboratory emphasis (Nacote Creek Research Station) is on data collection, analysis and interpretation. The lab will include geochemical and geophysical techniques available at the Nacote Creek Marine Station, along with pertinent field work.Faculty: D. PATRICK
