Catalog description

Not open to ENVL/GEOL or MARS majors. Non-quantitative course intended for students taking their first course in geology. The course will examine geologic time, plate tectonic theory, volcanic activity, and earthquakes, as well as the classification and formation of minerals and rocks. Other topics to be examined are the physical processes which shape the surface of the Earth, such as mountain building, landscape evolution, glaciation, and beaches, and geologic hazards.
