Catalog description

This course introduces students to the capacity of words. The course unlocks language to empower students to communicate effectively whether the intention is to inform, persuade, influence, or understand. And it teaches students to analyze communication by exploring intentional and implied meaning. Students will see works as symbols, inferences and judgments and discover the power of words to achieve cohesion or control. Students can expect to finish the course armed with the knowledge to wield words effectively and understand texts more proficiently, becoming skilled communicators both personally and professionally.
