Catalog description

This course is designed to introduce students to the basic structure of the Arabic language and to its uses in common situations of everyday communication. Arabic is the official language of 22 countries which are mainly located in a region of world that is becoming very influential in world politics. It is also the language of a significant body of literature and a growing music and film industry. The course addresses all four communication skills (reading, speaking, listening, and writing). It immerses the student in the Arabic language and its culture through various activities including audio-visually enhanced story set in an Arabic environment. Learning Arabic is an exciting and challenging experience and many become a plus in today's internationally driven job market.
