Open only to freshmen.This is a freshman seminar.This course examines human and mediated communications' models and applies those models in small group exercises, individual speeches, and special projects. Throughout the semester, students work in "problem-solving" teams to analyze in small group exercises, individual speeches, and special projects. Throughout the semester, students work in "problem-solving" teams to analyze the motivational strategies in print and electronic advertisements. In addition to the regular classroom meetings, students meet on-line in GEN 1019's "Town Hall" to discuss class policies, current events, and topics of mutual interest. Web searches are an integral part of the course and each student will become familiar with the major research engines of the industry.Faculty: D. ALLISON
