QUEER AUTOBIOGRAPHIES
Stockton University · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
Autobiographies are queer things in and of themselves in that they ask us to learn about a - person from only that person's perspective - that is, without getting an "objective" opinion. To compound this, many "autobiographies" take on unusual forms, incorporating fiction, poetry, and theory into their work. This class addresses those factors for a group of autobiographies about people who are in some way Queer-identified (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, etc.) The class will not only explore the lessons the lives of these people have to offer, but how the autobiographical form is itself a queer construction.
