Catalog description

This course will provide the students with an in-depth introduction to Jewish Scripture including how Judaism uses text to create and underscore Jewish life and its value system. The class will also be introduced to Jewish Mysticism and the text of Zohar, the philosophical writings of Maimonides (Guide for the Perplexed), Judah HaLevi (The Kuzari), Abraham Joshua Heschel (Heavenly Torah) and the teachings of Hasidism through the writings of Buber (Tales of the Hasidic Masters).
