Catalog description

The Ghost Story is a critical study of a popular genre in literature and film that draws heavily on folklore. Students discuss ghosts as reflections of their time in history and expressive of their societies' lack of closure with the past. The ghostly specter is studied as a narrative device that gives form to abstracts. Conventions and popular motifs of the ghost story are also examined.
