This course explores the interconnections between wellness and disease from early America to the present day. Topics include the relationship between infectious disease and early colonization, development of medical professions and persistence of folk and lay healing, germ theory and sanitation reform, homeopathic and allopathic controversies, hospitals and wellness centers, new viruses and global health challenges.
