MYTH, TRAGEDY, AND POLITICS

Not open to students with credit for GAH 1034. This is a Values/Ethics (V) course. The focus of this course is the interrelationship between Ancient Greek mythology, tragedy and politics. Readings will include selections from Homer, Hesiod, Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, Thucydides, Plato and Aristotle. The values, goals and beliefs expressed in the stories and political theories of these thinkers have defines the manner in which human beings have understood their relations with one another for over two millennia.
