Catalog description

The beliefs and values of the Bronze/Mycenaean Age which Homer wrote about and the Iron Age in which he lived examined through his epics, The Iliad and The Odyssey, through archaeology for the Mycenaean material, and through another epic, The Works and Days, of Homer's near contemporary, the misogynist Hesiod, for the Iron Age. Homer's impact on the culture and literature of later cultures down to our own days seen through post-Homeric treatments of the Homeric material.
