Open only to freshmen.This is a freshman seminar.Values/ethics course (V).Jewish stories from the Bible to the present will be read and discussed. Particular emphasis will be placed on the role of storytelling in Judaism as a religious and social tool; the development of specific themes over time; and the role of the storyteller. Major themes include the Jew as the outsider, adaptation to the more modern world, alienation and assimilation. No prior emphasis on Judaism is required.
