TECHNIQUES IN ECO-AGRICULTURE

Catalog description

Modern agricultural systems are often divorced from principles of ecology. They are dependent on large amounts of fertilizer, multiple chemicals and large volumes of water. Fertilizer and agricultural chemicals are fossil-fuel based, a resource becoming limited and more expensive. This course will examine methods which mimic natural processes. Techniques leading to a more sustainable use of natural resources as well as looking at agriculture as part of the natural landscape will be covered. This course complements ENVL 3440, Sustainability: Food and Agriculture.Faculty: R. MUELLER
