INTRODUCTION TO PLANNING

Catalog description

This course is designed to provide students with a broad overview of town and country planning in the United States. Planners work toward improving the quality of life for residents of urban environments and their surrounding areas. The course provides an introduction to the planning profession and the approaches used to address urban and rural issues; describes the institutional, economic political and social contexts of planning; and reviews the sub-disciplines of planning land use including infrastructure, transportation, housing, social services, economic development, and the environment. Prerequisites: ENVL 2100 AND ENVL 2200 AND ENVL 2400 AND ENVL 2600 with a grade of C or better.
