Catalog description

This course prepares students to use evidence-based instruction to teach K-12 students with diverse abilities and culturally diverse backgrounds as they become strategic and independent readers. Students will examine theories and current research on reading development and processes in order to effectively instruct and assess all readers, including those with special needs and from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Students will learn how to implement multiple strategies to support reading development and promote children's proficiency in state standards.
