CURRENT ISSUES IN ESL/BE

Catalog description

Prerequisite: Open to juniors and seniors only.Cross-Listed: EDUC 5201.This course explores the effect and history of language diversity on the education of school-aged students, national and international events, politics that affect English language and bilingual education, and practices in regard to standardized testing and language proficiency testing and assessment. Other topics include ACCESS for ELLs, federal and state requirements for ELD and bilingual services, different types of ESL and bilingual education programs and WIDA/TESOL standards.
