Prerequisite: ECON 1200.This course studies the revenue, expenditure and bonding patterns of the federal and state/local governments in the United States economy. Topics include but are not limited to budgetary theory and practice, the role of off-budget entities such as the social security administration, the highway and airport trust funds, the economic effects of government surpluses and deficits and the role of the state in social issues such as healthcare and pension reform.
