Catalog description

An introduction to foundational concepts and methods used to extract insights from data, providing an opportunity to build confidence in analyzing real-world data from diverse sources, using industry-standard scripting languages (no prior coding experience is required). Starting from posing a question, students will gain experience with obtaining a dataset containing relevant data, preparing the dataset for analysis, and looking for patterns and relationships through statistical analysis of the data and through creating visual representations of the data. Interested students in programs other than DSSA should contact the instructor for permission to register.
