Catalog description
This course is a critical examination of theoretical and research approaches to understanding victimization. Specifically, students will analyze the utility of traditional Criminological theories in explaining victimization while also considering the utility of more victim-centered approaches to understanding victims and their experiences. Additionally, students will explore the concept of feminist epistemology and feminist research methodologies that center marginalized voices and prioritize the awareness of how various social structures not only shape victimization experiences, but also our understanding of them.
