JOURNALISTIC WRITING

Catalog description

This course will rely heavily on in-class deadline writing that simulates a live newsroom experience, building upon the writing standards and strategies taught in Principles of Journalism. This course offers a mix of classroom lecture and hands-on writing lab. A different type of journalistic writing or abest practice will be introduced most weeks and be followed in the next class with a live, on-deadline writing assignment. Students will write a story by the end of each class with the instructor circulating as editor/writing coach/mentor.
