CHEM 4436
BIOGEOCHEMISTRY OF WETLANDS
Stockton University · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
(Cross-listed with ENVL 4436.) This class looks at the biogeochemical cycling of nutrients and trace metals in wetland systems. Attention will be paid to the role of biological agents in reduction-oxidation (redox) reactions and how chemical cycling occurs under reduced conditions. Topics to be discussed include: the electrochemistry of wetland systems, and how the change in redox potential affects the cycling of C, N, P, S, and trace elements in wetlands. The role of biological agents in changing the redox potential in the water column and in redox reactions will be stressed.
Faculty: T. CHIRENJE
