CHEMISTRY FOR LIFE SCIENCE II

Catalog description

This course is a continuation of Chemistry for Life Science I, designed for nursing students who require an understanding of a wide range of chemistry topics. Discussions will continue in organic chemistry, exploring topics such as important functional groups in organic chemistry and their functionality in drugs. In addition, topics in biochemistry will also be considered, including chemical messengers, enzymes, energy and vitamins. Metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and amino acids will also be discussed. The accompanying laboratory component will help students develop hands-on skills and enhance understanding of the topics under consideration.
