Catalog description

Over the last 50 years, reductionist paradigms have lead to huge advances in the biological sciences. Efforts need to be made to understand how complex changes in the balance among the individual components of animals and their ecosystems (e.g., genomic, proteomic, metabolomic, as well as, socio-cultural) lead to perturbations that result in negative outcomes. Further, we need to investigate models designed to predict the outcome of planned interventions (be they physical, physiological or pharmaceutical). Building on the strong foundation of reductionist biology this course is designed to construct an understanding and appreciation of the molecular and genomic architecture of cells, organs and organisms.Anatomy, Physiology and/or Statistics would be helpful.
