Catalog description

PREREQUISITES: BIOL 1400 or MARS 2201 or MARS 2202. An Introduction to marine survey methods that includes physical and biological characterization of underwater environments by a variety of techniques. These techniques include side scan sonar, magnetometer, and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) equipped with 2-D imaging sonar, video and water quality instrumentation. Data acquisition, processing and image analysis software will be utilized. Field exercises will collect data from inshore and offshore sites and produce geo-referenced maps of the NJ coast.Faculty: P. STRAUB
