Catalog description

Problems and concepts in the development of animals and plants. Topics include: gamete formation, fertilization, and embryo development; cell differentiation; pattern formation; regeneration; metamorphosis; growth control and malignancy, and aging. Class participants will discuss current research in these areas as well as gain a historical perspective on the development of the theories and principles underlying current research endeavors. Laboratory exercises include work with animal embryos.
