Catalog description

Prerequisite: ARTV 1161 or ARTV 1162 or ARTV 1164 Arts Course (A). Package design is a critical step in product presentation and information delivery. From food to cosmetics to medicine to consumer electronics, the package has a unique role in that its function is relatively short but its impact is potentially very large. Because of this, packaging design combines marketing, graphics, and three-dimensional design. This course emphasizes the application of graphic design elements to various forms of packaging. Packages are analyzed and positioned from a marketing point of view. Through lectures and studio projects, the course explores branding, visual graphics, diagrams, materials, and color schemes. This class is geared toward students interested in product packaging and graphic design. Faculty: H. UENO
