Catalog description

This course is a hybrid of on-line learning and three day long field trips to visit area museums. Students are required to attend the three trips scheduled during the term. In addition to field trips, the course will utilize the online learning system with essays and discussion. Travel locations include; New York City, various locations in New Jersey, and Philadelphia. This class is an introduction the major cultural institutions in our region that collect and display works of art. Through site visits, discussions and readings, the course will review the history and contemporary role of the art museum and art gallery as cultural repositories.
