Catalog description

Through readings and practical application, students in this course will learn ways to assist high school students from various language communities as they work to acquire greater fluency in the Standard English of the classroom. The course consists of reading, discussion, service in a local high school and reflective essay writing. Considerable emphasis will be placed on the value of the wide variety of languages within and outside of the high school classroom.
