Catalog description
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of grant writing through practical application. It includes the common elements of proposal writing, the tasks involved in program planning and the importance of research to support applications. Class discussions include trends in philanthropy, priorities for funding organizations, peer review and evaluation, and grant compliance. Public and private funding sources at the local, state and federal level will be examined. Course assignments are realistic exercises that help students gain an understanding of the non-profit community and the tasks required for identifying and obtaining grant sources.
