Catalog description

This course will introduce students to the history of the community school movement in American public education, and its growth through formal and informal community partnerships. How community schools impact students, teachers, and the surrounding community will be discussed, and Atlantic City community schools will be studied in this context. Students will reflect on their experiences and add what they have learned to the growing body of knowledge on community schools and community partnerships. Students taking this course will be required to visit AC schools six – seven times during the semester and work with elementary and middle school students in an afterschool program.Faculty: R. Curry
