Catalog description

This course examines the African-American experience with special focus on interpreting historical sites, exhibits, tours and public programming. In addition to introducing students to various roles and careers in the public humanities, the course explores issues involved with the interpretation of objects and landscapes surrounding African American life stories. Students also engage with field projects for nearby sites and participate in ongoing civic celebrations and memorials in popular culture.
