This discussion-based seminar examines the evolving roles of U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF) in contemporary conflict and competition among major powers. Taught by former and current SOF members, the course features guest lectures from experienced SOF leaders. Students will explore how SOF contribute to integrated deterrence, irregular warfare, and strategic influence, while addressing emerging challenges such as cyber threats, gray-zone operations, and partner capacity building. Readings and case studies will frame lively dialogue with practitioners, providing future leaders insights into SOF's unique capabilities and enduring relevance in advancing U.S. objectives in an era of great power rivalry.
