Catalog description

This is an advanced seminar on topics in food security and the environment, intended as a follow-on to the World Food Economy or Feeding Nine Billion. The course is divided into modules, each of which will include reading papers, building small models to understand key concepts, and conducting analyses to understand the state of the science. Along the way, several guests at the forefronts of their fields will join students to provide deeper, conversational insight for these topics. In lieu of a final exam, students will expand on one model from the course and conduct their own analysis to frame future research questions. Prerequisite: World Food Economy (GEP 106/206), Feeding Nine Billion (EARTHSYS 185), or consent of instructor.
