Advanced Seminar in Microbial Biology
Stanford University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Microbes are an integral part of our lives and planet ecosystems, playing essential roles in aspects as diverse as themselves. They have for centuries been both allies and foes. The Advanced Seminar in Integrative Microbiology, a weekly seminar series, brings together the community of Stanford researchers (faculty, postdocs, and graduate students) and invited speakers from a broad range of fields in microbial sciences, exposing the students to diverse microbiology topics (e.g., infection diseases, microbial evolutionary biology, microbial ecology, synthetic biology) in the form of research-in-progress talks. For full credit, enrolled students are expected to attend the seminars and complete assignments. Open to STEM graduate students only.
