Catalog description

Focus is on appreciating, articulating and addressing ethical, legal and social issues (ELSI) in genetics research and society. Topics include introductions to genetics, bioethics and ELSI; history of eugenics; population descriptors; community-engaged research; forensic genetics; behavioral genetics; direct-to-consumer (DTC) genetics; CRISPR; and reproductive genetics. Preference to graduate students and postdocs working with genetic technologies or concepts. Formerly offered as BIOS 232.
