Catalog description

Restricted to M.F.A. Documentary Film students. This course will introduce each student to the fundamentals of 16mm documentary filmmaking. You will acquire hands-on experience in cinematography, sound recording, lighting, and editing. During the quarter, you will direct, shoot, and edit a "process exercise" and a final project. You will also perform various crew roles for other students as assigned. Critiques of creative work will emphasize the conceptual, aesthetic, and technical aspects of film production. Each student will show their final Fall Film at the end-of-quarter public screening.
