Documentary Perspectives II

Catalog description

This course will introduce students to historical, political, aesthetic, and formal developments of documentary film. Topics we will cover include subjectivity, ethics, censorship, representation, reflexivity, responsibility, and authorial voice. Each student will be an active participant through class discussions, readings and writing assignments. This is a required course for students in the M.F.A. Documentary Film program. Other students with an interest in documentary film are very welcome, and there are no prerequisites to taking this course.Offered every other year.
