VISITING: Closed to visitors. TYPE OF CLERKSHIP: Required. DESCRIPTION: Teaches the management of diseases commonly encountered in the primary care setting. Emphasis is placed on patient-centered, efficient, equitable, cost-effective medical care of persons of all ages and genders in a variety of settings. Prevention, shared decision-making, communication, and cultural humility are emphasized. Didactic workshops are conducted at the School of Medicine, and clinic sessions are held at numerous community ambulatory sites on the Peninsula, in the South Bay, in the East Bay, in San Francisco, and electively in Humboldt County, Santa Cruz, and Amador County. PREREQUISITES: None. PERIODS AVAILABLE: 1-12, full time for 4 weeks, 10 students per period. CLERKSHIP DIRECTOR: Tracy A.
