Technology, International Security, and Sustainability

This course explores relationships among technology, national security, and sustainability. In this class, we address current national security and sustainability challenges, and the role that technology plays in shaping our understanding and response to these challenges. Topics include: interplay between technology and modes of warfare; dominant and emerging technologies, such as nuclear weapons, cyber, AI, biology, and space; how sustainability issues, such as the environment and energy generation, implicate new technologies; how national security concerns affect sustainability and how sustainability affects national security concerns.
