Experiments in Critical AI

Catalog description

Setting aside the hype around so-called "AI", this course will offer students a platform to explore the intersection between generative LLMs and critical thinking about text. Together we will learn how these models are created and trained, and what uses they may, or may not, have for understanding literature. Throughout a series of experiments, we will explore the points of promise in their use as well as their potential for failure when it comes to understanding text.
