Emergency Medical Technician Part II

Catalog description

EMED 111B is the second part of the two-quarter Stanford EMT Program (EMED 111A/B). The course builds on the topics introduced in 111A and provides additional instruction in basic life support, communications, transport operations, pediatric and geriatric care, trauma care, and mass casualty incidents. Completing the EMED 111A/B sequence fulfills all requirements to sit for the National Registry EMT cognitive exam and obtain state EMT certification. In addition to in-person classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, two weekend sessions and 24 hours of clinical observations are required. Clinical observations will take place on a 911 ambulance and in the Stanford Emergency Department. Attendance at all class sessions is mandatory. Successful completion of EMED 111A and instructor consent are required to enroll.
