This seminar focuses on private universities and the public interest in the United States, inviting a critical analysis of key questions about what they contribute to society as well as what they can expect from society. Readings and guest speakers provide concepts and insights that help frame our weekly discussions, as we consider evolving expectations and realities as well as look to the future. The course is designed for graduate students. Undergraduates and postdocs should seek the instructors' permission.
