Righteous Rage, Healing Justice: Contemporary Black Feminisms

This course examines core themes in Contemporary Black Feminisms in the United States. The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with 20th and 21st century Black Womxn's Studies with a specific focus on how Black women experience love, anger, and healing justice. Each week the class will explore topics such as Black womxn's history, personal narrative and memoir, representation in the media and new media, policy initiatives, and activism in areas of restorative and transformative justice, work and equal pay, relationships, family, reproductive rights, mass incarceration, and other topics.
