Catalog description

This one-unit course is an applied continuation of ESS/EBS 234: Climate Displacement, Migration, and Mobility (prerequisite). The policy lab is housed in the Center for Just Environmental Futures as a space to build on existing legal and policy scholarship in climate justice, displacement, and mobility. Limited to 10 students, the course supports participants in initiating and advancing independent research projects while contributing to a shared lab research agenda. Students will develop research questions, methods, and applied outputs such as pilot datasets, legal or policy analyses, briefs, or community-engaged research designs. Example projects include analyzing climate displacement governance frameworks, assessing planned relocation law and policy in island and coastal contexts, mapping climate-related immobility, and supporting ongoing Center initiatives on climate justice and adaptation finance.
