GEN 4545
From Humanities Training to Professional Skills
Stanford University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Students who have declared a major in a Division of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages department (Comparative Literature, French, Italian, Iberian and Latin American Cultures, German Studies, Slavic Languages and Literatures, and Spanish) are invited to take this capstone workshop aimed at guiding them as they enter their senior year in translating their humanities experience and training into the language of professional skills and abilities. Interested students should email the DLCL SSO, Kyra Wells, as students will begin their experience early, attending quarterly professional workshops through Career Ed, including an alumni event, over the course of their senior year. Progress will be tracked in the Capstone Canvas site, but students should formally enroll in the DLCL course the quarter they plan to confer their undergraduate degree, typically spring. The structure of the Workshop series is flexible and there is not a scheduled classroom meeting time, and students conferring in a term other than spring may still participate with adjusted workshop attendance by contacting the DLCL SSO.
