Catalog description

Join us to learn the methods of co-design, the practice of designing WITH and not FOR communities. We'll explore how to identify projects well suited for co-design, how to shift from the "hero" to the "host" as designers, and how to practice cutting edge co-design methods. We'll hear from expert practitioners in the social and for-profit sectors and apply methods that pull from community organizing, change management, and social justice movements. You will become versed in the frameworks and tools of co-design, a practice that is on the forefront of the Equity Design movement. It will help to have experience with design thinking, but you do not need to be a long-time or deep practitioner. Lived experience and passion will be highly valuable.
