Stanford University · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
Aerogel! Kintsugi! Silkworms! In this course we'll dive head (and hands!) first into a world of "wild" and wondrous materials and processes. Through hands-on projects, you'll discover tools, materials, and mindsets beyond the traditional rapid prototyping toolkit. You'll develop material literacy and intuition by exploring materials that may be soft, living, crunchy, and/or disobedient. Together, we'll uncover both new ways of making and new ways of connecting with our material world. An application is required, but students of all levels and disciplines are encouraged to apply.
