Responsible Conduct of Research in Genetics and Developmental Biology

Catalog description

Students on the NIH training grant will engage training grant faculty and fellow students to discuss responsible conduct of research and ethical responsibilities of scientific practice. Focus areas include, Collaborative research, Conflict of interests, Research misconduct, Data management, Responsible authorship and publication, Peer review, Mentor/mentee relationships, Human and vertebrate animal subjects, and Socially and globally responsible research communication. Discussions will feature real world scenarios and students and faculty will draw on their own experience as well as course content in discussions. This course is required for all students supported by the NIH joint Dev. Bio. and Genetics training grant. This is now intended to be the first year course.
